Above The Bridge
Biography & Highlights
That stretch of Olympic Blvd in East LA doesn't care about your mood when you pull up to Above The Bridge. You'll park three blocks away under the freeway hum and walk past loading docks that smell like warm asphalt and exhaust. The front door is just a heavy metal slab with a piece of gaff tape marking the handle.
Inside, it's basically a raw industrial box with concrete floors that rattle every time the kick drum drops. There isn't any fancy stage lighting, just a couple of red bulbs taped to the rafters and a swamp cooler blowing lukewarm air across the crowd. You can't hear yourself think once the first local punk band kicks into their set.
The bar setup is just a folding table with plastic cups and warm cans of Tecate sitting in melted ice. It's loud, sticky, and you'll leave with your ears ringing for hours while your hoodie reeks of stale smoke and floor beer.
